“The Flock Block” adds significant density of housing adjacent to the Shoreline North Link light rail station. Three continuous city blocks are separated into three distinct buildings that represent pivotal phases in the city of Shoreline’s history. Building A (wood) represents the natural shores in which Native Americans foraged and fished. Building B (steel) represents the arrival of the Great Northern Railroad and Building C (brick) the construction of the Seattle-Everett Interurban line. Upper levels have simple compositions of contrasting colors and textures. Large internal courtyards give residents ample outdoor space for recreation. Retail and resident amenity spaces activate the streets making this a hub of activity for a former single family neighborhood.
